EUIC Shkodra

On 9th of May 2013, the European Union Information Centre Shkoder in collaboration with the Regional Education Directorate organized the screening of the icon movie "Roma citta' aperta" from Roberto Rossellini. The movie was followed by discussions about its influence regarding the promotion of the idea of a United Europe after the Second World War. This special activity was part of a series of activities organized by the EUIC Shkoder in the framework of the EU Cultural Week 2013, and aimed at presenting to the students the initials of the EU idea in European countries.

The EU Information Center in Shkoder in close collaboration with the Regional Educational Directorate organized the essay contest "Just BE: the future of Albania belongs to EU". All city high schools (public & private) were included in this project. The contest, launched in early April, aimed at raising awareness about Albania EU integration among youth in Shkodra. An award ceremony of Jean Monnet Prizes for the winners was organized on the 8th May, to mark the Europe Day. In this regard, synergies were created with Tirana European University (UET) hosting the first Jean Monnet Chair in Albania (second in the Balkans). Therefore, the activity served as a platform to launch Jean Monnet Chair in Shkodra as well. 

In the framework of the Europe Day celebration in Shkodra, where in total eight activities are taking place during the European Cultural Week to raise awareness about the EU and significance of Europe Day, on the 8th May, the Regional Directorate for Education with the support of EU Info Center in Shkoder organized the artistic event "Shkodra – a European Sound". The artistic activity "Shkodra – a European sound" involved all city's 9-years schools, including children from marginalized areas and minority groups, such as Roma. The event took place at Millenium Cinema and sought the presence of HE Ambassador Ettore Sequi, Head of EU Delegation to Albania, Mayor of Shkodra, representatives of Italian Consulate, local institutions, teachers, parents and EU Info Center Friends.
